As your future President, I will make it a top priority to fix the child support system. The current system, in my opinion, goes against the constitutional rights of individuals and disproportionately affects those who struggle to meet their financial obligations.

In many jurisdictions across the United States, including Texas, there are individuals who face incarceration solely because they have fallen behind on their child support payments. This practice is not only unfair but also ineffective in ensuring the long-term well-being of children.

In my administration, we will work to eliminate the practice of imprisoning individuals solely due to non-payment of child support. Instead, we will explore alternative measures, such as community service and rehabilitation programs, to address non-payment issues. Our goal is to create solutions that support both parents and the well-being of their children, rather than solely punishing one.

To incentivize parents to meet their child support obligations, we will implement a program that rewards those who consistently make timely payments. This program will provide parents with $1,500 per year if they fulfill their child support obligations for a period of 12 consecutive months. This financial incentive will serve as a positive reinforcement for responsible parenting and encourage parents to prioritize their child's needs.

In addition to financial incentives, we will also create a child support insurance program. This program will provide financial support to parents in the event of job loss or other unforeseen circumstances that prevent them from fulfilling their child support obligations. The child support insurance program will cover up to three months of missed payments or until the parent finds another job, ensuring the child's well-being during these challenging times.

Furthermore, under my leadership, we will not take your driver's license or place a lien on your bank, vehicles, or property as a result of non-payment of child support. We understand that these actions can have severe consequences for individuals, and we will make every effort to find alternative solutions before resorting to such measures.

By fixing our child support system, we will create a fair and equitable system that supports both parents and their children. Our efforts will focus on providing financial assistance, incentives, and support to both parents, ensuring that every child receives the care and resources they need to thrive.
